Master's Review Summer Short Story Award for New Writers

Little bit of news here, and this actually hit my social media first, so it may not be news to you! I submitted my short story, Shades of Green, to the Master’s Review summer contest. This would be a great honor to win, and help me get my name out there as a promising new writer. All submissions are considered for publication, and the winner also receives as $3000 prize.

This is a prominent literary journal and a popular contest, so my odds are probably slim. However, I’m confident in my story, a speculative piece about a world where we’ve learned how to distill a memory into a pill, so it can be witnessed by others. The main character orders five of these pills, in order to experience the memories of the woman he loved and try to understand why she died.

I plan on submitting this story elsewhere, as well, so I’ll keep you updated on where it finally lands!

Wish me luck.

I’ve always been fascinated by stories and the way people of different cultures and backgrounds experience life. I went to the University of Nevada, Reno, and earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology. After graduation, I decided to convert a Ford Transit cargo van into a tiny home and hit the road, pursuing my dream of being a writer full-time. Now I keep a blog about my experience converting and traveling in the van and write short travel articles and book reviews on Medium.com, while working on short stories and novels that range from Epic Fantasy to Urban Fantasy to Realistic Drama Fiction.
